  The primary purpose of the hydrosols is to interact with the skin’s chemistry and treat from within. The scent is the bonus. The purpose of an aftershave is not neccessarily aroma, it’s primarily to ‘tone and tighten’ the skin, after shaving.
  When used in conjunction with the Shaving Soaps the Aftershave scent notes ‘adhere’ to the emollient and humectant bases and thus the scent lingers longer.
