Happy 2009!!

It’s a magical year beautiful people. Absolutely magical. So…if you don’t believe in magic (and really, how could you not? You’re alive. Think about it.)...change that thought process and make it snappy. Thou shall not be a tempus fugitive. :)

Wishing upon and for you, the Law of Benevolence. Abundance for all. Most of all…you.

It is a fine thing to be honest, but it is also very important to be right.
Winston Churchill

...I’m just saying…well, I suppose I’m not, I’m using Churchill as a channel, which is weird because paranormally speaking, it’s usually the other way around, yes?...but, this is my point;

If you have an important point to make, don’t try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time, a tremendous whack.
Winston Churchill

And that’s all Churchill has to say about that.

Just in time for Christmas

Well…just in case someone wanted to get me something material for Christmas, instead of what it is I really want for everyone, namely peace, love, joy, maybe a Jaguar, guilt-free chocolate…where am I going with this?...er, yes...this, have a look at this.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Dusk!

Twas brought to my attention earlier today, thought I would share it with well, everyone. Just in case. Yes, I did comment on that story. Yes, I am a nerd. Yes I am 40. Almost. No. I am never going to grow up. Life’s too long for that nonsense. May the Farce be with you.

Out of chaos, find simplicity, From discord, find harmony.

I love this. It’s what I try to remember (in my own words) when I feel discordant energy aligment. And boy, it’s palpable at the moment.

What a great man. What a great great human.

Don’t be discouraged by a failure. It can be a positive experience.
Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success, inasmuch as every discovery of what is false leads us to seek earnestly after what is true, and every fresh experience points out some form of error which we shall afterwards carefully avoid.

John Keats

...actually that just a whole lot of bull. Failure is never a positive experience unless of course you’re in a situation where failure saves your life.

Failure being a positive experience comes with hindsight and hindsight is always 20/20 vision. Best not view things as failure then. How about…pause in forward momentum? Or…stuckcess???

Flamenco and Fire

posted 2008 Nov by Dusk Devi

...am in the mood to stamp strongly…to clap fiercely…make my castanets spark…I want to swirl, twirl and breathe fire. Flamenco.

Flamenco Dancer by Fabian Perez

It’s a very strange day today. I am overflowing and ripe with energy, just rippling with a force that I can barely disguise.

By the way, the ‘Flamenco Dancer’ is by Fabian Perez.
If my purpose is to inculcate the value of joy, then my pursuit of personal joy is through sensuality. The finding of it everywhere. Flamenco. Yes. An obvious choice but not for the reasons one would think. Flamenco, the dance, the physical expression, the release, it’s passion and pain and pleasure.
...it’s the capturing of a moment of that passion and pain and pleasure…the dichotomy of soft and hard…

Do not mistake sensuality for a sexually derived feeling. Sensuality can be found in a pure white round sugar bowl, filled with coarse white and brown sugar cubes…the velvet timbre of a hard word…the drip of a a single rain drop, rolling off a leaf as thunder rumbles in the background…
Sensuality can be found in the blowing of leaves against a tree trunk…in the curve of a car bonnet, engine revving, heat radiating…in the deliberate vicious stroke of an artist’s brush…

Fabian Perez, the sensuality of his art…stuns me…I forget to breathe. I have some of his art on my wall…I just…ahhh… I need to feel this powerful every day. Life should be lived this powerfully every day.

His Flamenco Dancer is how I feel today. Just as well I have 2 classes this week. I want this energy to burn.

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

Winston Churchill, a man of great wit and wisdom.

A conversation was had about optimism. What I see as unwavering faith in the good outcome of all opportunities, that indeed all circumstances are opportunities and that there is no such thing as defeat only a pause in forward momentum…was seen by the other as naivete and childish idealism.

Whatever. You say tomato and I say fruit.

More wit and wisdom from Winston…and no, I’m not just ‘copy and paste’ -ing! I have hand-written journals of quotes, collected over the years. (I’m not a diary writer/keeper, hell…even these minor pieces of personal meaningful fluff make me cringe, which is why I don’t reread what I have written here…but I do collect quotes and suchlike).
I open these journals at random every day. Some are categorised by their lack of categorisation. Some by the auteur/quoter/author. Winston Churchill is a favourite.
Particularly because of his cutting wit but I also find great succour in his sharp wisdom.

Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential.

Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities… because it is the quality which guarantees all others.

...and…

From now on, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I shall not put.

...and the classics;
Bessie Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.”
Churchill: “Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.”

Nancy Astor: “Sir, if you were my husband, I would give you poison.”
Churchill: “If I were your husband I would take it.”

When I wake up, I choose happiness.

So yeah okay sometimes happiness doesn’t choose me. Particularly during PMS week. Weeks. And certainly not when I’ve had 2 minutes sleep and it’s time to wake up again. And sometimes, just sometimes, holding on to the happy and not sweating the small stuff is a real test of grit grip.

But…most times the choice I choose when I wake up, sticks. Happiness is a choice. You can choose to be a total ass and face the day buried in sand. Or you can choose not to. It’s that simple. Happiness is a choice. Not an oblivious one but a purpose filled one. Not dependant on others to provide nor fulfill. Your choice.

Choose happiness. It’s. that. f**king. simple.

Happiness belongs to the self-sufficient.
Aristotle

One should as a rule respect public opinion in so far as is necessary to avoid starvation and to keep out of prison, but anything that goes beyond this is voluntary submission to an unnecessary tyranny, and is likely to interfere with happiness in all kinds of ways.
- Bertrand Russell

You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.

I eat without guilt.

Guilt causes the body to rebel so it refuses to metabolise and digest, just in case it (the body) gets punished (starved). The body stores the food for that “dire time ahead”. Thus it puts on weight. Sounds simplistic…but it really is that simple. Respect the body your skin is in and stop playing games with it!

Just forget about the guilt.

One of the keys to happiness is a bad memory.

Embodies the MAN...

posted 2008 Jul by Gamma Dusk

The face of huMANature truly emodies the MAN of huMANature. More gorgeous on the inside...and weak at the knees good on the outside.

So in answer to some questions from those who were “just curious”, “just wondering” and just plain lascivious :)...(you know who you are);

1) “Does he come with the products?”
2) “Is he real?”
3) “Will you be introducing body care products for Men??”
4) “Will my man look that good if he uses huMANature?”

1) No
2) Yes
3) Maybe.
4) Definitely.

Thank you. You’re all sick. And I mean that with a lot of affection. I am ecstatic that the reaction I sought is the reaction I got.
Well, he got/gets…and believe me, he is more gorgeous on the inside. It’s his human nature.

More body products. :)

In an already packed to overflowing with lyrical prose and promises of youthful skin and highly competitive beauty market…who in their right mind would bring out more??

Well. GammaZon.
...because oh my God…the beauty market lies through their teeth for your bottom dollar.
(By the way…what’s this obsession with youthful skin? How youthful is youthful? Teenage youthful? Isn’t that pimply time?? Ewww. Who wants that??)

You’re probably wondering where this is all going? Let me tell you my story…

I, who can eat from a street cart in a 4th world country and can wade through murky waters without fear, have – as I get older – developed a sensitivity to face and body products.

Products that were supposed to be moisturising me were drying me out. Products that promised to smooth and refine were stripping me thin. About 5 years ago, I developed an allergic reaction to aluminium based deodarants and the rest of my skin bodycotted. :)

So I ditched the ‘fake’ and went in search for ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ products. Great. Why does ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ equal expensive? Anyway, it’s my skin and I like it, only skin I’ll ever have and I did abuse it a little when I was younger. Sigh...those were lazy, hazy, damn crazy days baking in the sun with Tanning Oil SPF-10.

What is Gamma?

posted 2008 Apr by Gamma Dusk

...according to Flickr.

What is Flickr Gamma?

Gamma is a slightly tongue-in-cheek reference to a standard software development cycle, where beta is normally applied to a system that is mostly working, but still being tested.

Flickr is always being tested by you, dear member. We like to think the system is always in transition, especially when we look at all the fantastic features we have planned!

So, labeling Flickr as “gamma” is just our way of saying that the site is in a state of perpetual improvement.

...and check it. Flickr uses GAMMA colours.

The GammaZon Has Landed.

posted 2008 Apr by Gamma Dusk

You may have noticed a name change…we’ve packed the Bag and sent it on its way.

Well not really....of course the GammaBags are still available but they are no longer the focal point. They never were. Focal product maybe but never the Focal Point. But that got lost in postulation…

The Focal Point of The GammaBag (site not product) has always been about the logo. And the essence of the logo has always been about the GammaZon within.
Therefore it makes more sense to make our brand about the Who not the What.

GammaZon is a brand for those who can’t be branded.

What do I mean by that? I shouldn’t have to explain. That defeats the purpose. All I know is that this is a rainbow world, not a black & white one, so why fight nature?

Body Products: How natural is natural?

posted 2008 Apr by Gamma Dusk

Just to let you know, because there have been a few queries about this… the Body Butters do tend to solidify/get hard. This is normal and natural for a product that is made from natural ingredients.

(Allow the Body Butter to warm up, either by placing it in your hands or on an outer shelf while you’re in the shower.)

To get a ‘buttery’ consistency constantly…we’d have to put chemical preservatives in our products and we don’t want to do that.

Many products are marketed as “made with 100% natural ingredients” but really do not deserve that label since they have been modified chemically and still contain plenty of chemical by products from that process.

I’m not naming any names but there’s many body product shops :) out there that are as natural as Pamela Anderson’s breasts.

Body Butter Ingredients: (other than the essential oils and fragrances)

Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Sunflower Seed Oil, Vegetable Glycerine, Mango Seed Butter, Jojoba Sees Oil, Vitamin E, Phenoxyethanol Preservative

Even though Phenoxyethanol is considered a natural cosmetic preservative, it’s actually derived from a combination of Natural and Synthetic sources BUT…most importantly, it is Paraben and Formaldehyde free with an excellent low toxicity profile and non-sensitizing.

Phenoxyethanol is a ‘safe synthetic’.

Unfortunately no cosmetic product, no matter how natural, can afford to be without this safe synthetic preservative or its ilk. Sure, we could do away with it completely…but that would mean you would have to buy and finish the product the day it was made.

And you can’t do that.

The GAMMABody products are sourced from the highest quality suppliers, growers and manufacturers in Australia and around the globe.

Rest assured that the GAMMABody product ingredients are tested to be as clean, as pure and safe as possible and…they’re tested on huemans!
Each product is then thoroughly tested many many times, by industry professionals and by volunteers. Yes, the volunteers are friends and family members and me of course!

Each Body product or pamper pack comes with a full list of ingredients.

...and with a promise of pleasure.

Hello!

posted 2008 Apr by Gamma Dusk

I’m really excited about the gorgeous new bodylicious products that are now available!
If only there was a way to smell online… :)

The gamMango Dusk products are simply yummy! Rich and decadent with hints of passionfruit and the transport-me-to-Summer delights of Mango!

The CocoNilla products…if heaven has a smell, this has to be it! Coconut and vanilla…could there ever be a better combination? Well maybe, chocolate and coffee…but that’s another story and it will be coming soon.

These products are Australian made and hand made, using pure and natural ingredients. They do not contain any harsh chemicals that may dry or damage your skin. The creams are…well, creamy!...and all the products are nourishing and moisturising. Positively luxurious.

Currently only mini pamper packs are available (especially for Mother’s Day) but the full range of products in ‘normal’ sizes will be available soon. The mini pamper packs will still be available – these are great as travel packs, keep at work packs or as try before you buy packs!

I’ll be uploading a video clip soon on The GammaBlog…technology doesn’t allow us to smell fragrances online (yet!) but you can see for yourself the texture and creaminess of these products.

Thank you and Gamma on!
